Saw-Cut or 'Slit' versions. Sheets of cards were cut at the factory and marked for destruction. The Ripken card was located on the bottom row of the 132-card sheets, making it easy to cut. Saw-Cuts weren't all destroyed and many (MANY) made it into packs. The cuts were never intended to cover the knob of the bat. They were just used to 'mark' the card for removal out of the sorting process.

Nearly every version can be found with one (and sometimes two) of these cuts. Buyer beware! There are dozens and dozens of fakes out there. Black Box versions were never intended to be cut. Don't trust people selling these!
